Robert grew up in Chicago where he started creating art with friends, inspired by comics, album covers, graffiti art, skateboard graphics, tattoos & maybe a little fine art. After high school he moved to New Mexico, where he became a father & worked in a variety of creative fields including tattooing, murals, airbrushing, & sign making. Over the last 25 years he's worked for such companies as Nike, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, McDonalds & many other (small & large) businesses, doing Illustration, murals, sign making, caricatures & graphic recording. He's currently based in Chicagos Rogers Park neighborhood.
Simple Heady was originally how I described some big-headed characters I created but then evolved into my art-name. The ideas & motivation behind a lot of my work is an attempt to show both the extremes & subtleties of inspirations & critical observations within society, nature, consciousness & dream states. I aim to both entertain & express a kind of spiritual glory that gets at some of the wonder of creation. "Simple Heady" also works as a reminder to myself to strive for balance in life & art.
